The Maturing of Meetings & Events

What can we learn from growth in the Meetings & Events industry in Latin America? Quite a lot when considering the financial fluctuations and political upsets that have shrouded the region since the beginning of the decade. Still, many bright spots exist for the meetings and events industry in this region where growth and expansion persist and, often against the odds, a private-public trust prevails.

The growing middle-class market that now comprises the bulk of the comparatively young 565 million Latin Americans means the region will be an accelerating opportunity for global business—which means more meetings and events, whether local, regional or global. The region accounted for some 1,347 meetings in 2016, according to the latest figures available through the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
